We had a great night and many 'season' best performance at the WIAA Regional on Monday night. As we have shared with you the combined Sectional we compete in is one of the toughest in the State. In many events the top Regional athletes will have the best chance to compete at the State Meet.
Congratulations to Kara Metzger for advancing in the Pole Vault (and winning the Regional) and Natatlie Gottschalk for winning the Long and Jump and a season best in the High Jump. Lead Quadracci also overcame the strong wind and qualified for the Sectional in Shot Put.
Lindsay Kottwitz had the 'biggest' PR of the season with a 86 foot discus throw and advanced to the finals. The distance runners had a great day. Hailey Madden also had a PR in the DIscus. The 4x800 got off to a great start with Katy Allen, Gayanna, and Kari Bull all running PR's. In the Mile Kelly Johnson ran a tough race to finish 5th, while Angela Como ran well and ran her fastest mile time ever. Kari Bull ran a PR in the 800m Run. Gayanna Wanniarchchi may of had the best performance of the day with a time of 11:39 in the 2 mile. Despite her 5th place finish her performance was less than 4 seconds off the school record and over a 10 second PR.
Kara, Natalie, and Leah will compete in the WIAA Sectional at Waukesha North, on Thursday. We will NOT have a bus, but we hope many athletes come to North to support both the girl's and the boy's competing to advance to the WIAA State Track and Field Meet.
